Bobby Hugh Williams

Bobby (Bob) Hugh Williams, 89, Mountain View, passed away while a patient at Carnegie Tri-County Municipal Hospital on August 20, 2020. The third child of B.H. (Pete) and Rachel Williams, Bob was born August 28, 1930, at the family home in Cooperton. Bob loved many thingsâ€"first and foremost, his family! He could rarely be beaten at dominos, played a pretty good hand of pitch, and -before his knees gave out- was the smoothest dancer on a Western Swing dancefloor. He was a proud member of the Western Swing Music Society of the Southwest as well as the Cowtown Society of Western Music. He received their Creative Achievement Award in 2011.In his 60s, he became a folk artist of horseshoe art, using his welding skills to craft imaginative home dÃ©cor and furniture from horseshoes and other discarded farm materials. A specialty became his guitar stands with the recipientâ€™s name on the base. Thanks to daughter Janetâ€™s country music career in Nashville in the 1990s, many of those stands are owned by top country artists. Daughter Gayle had to wait for two years to finally receive her own horseshoe floor lamp due to popular demand! He never knew a stranger, never spoke ill of his friends, and made lasting friendships wherever he went. He could be counted on to share a good joke. His smile was always accompanied by a twinkle in his eye. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, brother Dale H. Williams, sister Louise Smith, an infant son, and his dance partner for more than thirty years, Frances Bowerman. Today, he is reunited with all of them. He is deeply mourned by children Gayle Williams, Miami FL/Oklahoma City; Janet Williams, Apache; Bobbie Williams Fields (Mike), Broken Arrow; and James Williams, Austin TX; sister Sue Mace Granger, Carnegie; special nephew John Mace, Carnegie; special niece Alice Patterson (Jimmy), Carnegie; grandchildren Bryce Fields, Jayden Williams, Jake Fields, Eleanor Williams, and great granddaughter Charlotte (Charlie) Williams; and many extended family members and lifelong friends.There will be a private family memorial.Services under the direction of Fort Cobb Funeral Home, Fort Cobb, OK.Messages of condolences may be sent to the family at: www.smithfuneralservices.com
