Leon Red

Services for Leon Red, 79, of Ft. Cobb will be at the Fort Cobb Baptist Church, Thursday at 2 pm with burial to follow in the Mt.View Cemetery. Leon was born in Wheeler Texas Sept.27, 1940 to Glen and Opal (Case) Red. He passed from this life at age 79, December 30, 2019 peacefully in his home. Leon lived in Wheeler until the age of 4 and the family moved to the Mt. View, OK area, where he grew up and went to school. Leon began working at a young age. He pulled cotton and always said that anyone that plants it should have to pull it. He was a farmer as a young man but never planted any cotton. He was a loving, caring husband, father and grandfather. His family was his life. He had worked helping his dad, doing whatever. He started at the age of 11 part time at Kimbell Milling Co, and later going full time in Mt. View. He married Norma Jo (Willis ) Red June 18, 1959.They made their home in Mt. View for a short time after marriage, but in 1963, he received a promotion as Manager of the Kimbell Milling Company in Gruver, TX. When the company sold, Leon started ranching and farming there as they loved the panhandle where they raised their 4 children. He owned a feed store and farmed until he became involved in the Oil and Gas Industry in 1979. Due to his distance and number of road trips he decided to move to Caddo county, which was where he needed to live to pursue this business. They bought a house Southeast of Ft. Cobb in 1993. Leon learned all he could about the business and helped many people over the years.He was very active and productive, as he loved to work in his business and ranching and enjoying life. Later in years, he was known for his beautiful yard & flowers, which he spent most of his time caring for and planting more. He was a Christian and an active member of the First Baptist Church in Ft. Cobb. He and Norma spent much time together and later in years, they did everything together and were very close. He loved fishing, feeding the wildlife and working with his cattle and horses. He was happiest when his Grand-Children or Great-Grandchildren were young and playing with them or having them around. He always enjoyed and cherished his family. He always loved life and lived life to the fullest. He will be greatly missed by his family.Leon served on the Excise Board in Caddo County for several years. He was on the OQHA Racing Board for several years. During his business in the oil & gas Industry, he met many people and thrived on visiting and doing business and came to know everyone.He was preceded in death by his son Dale Wayne Red, his parents, Glen and Opal Red of Mt. View, OK; Grand-Parents, Mr. and Mrs. George L. Case and Mr. and Mrs.Jewel S. Red; son-in-law, Joe Henderson and several Aunts an Uncles.Survivors include his wife Norma of the home and 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Kenny and Brenda Red, Gruver, TX, James and Tammy Red, Ardmore, OK., daughter-in-law Tammy Red of Temple, Tx. One daughter, Connie Jo Red and fiance Ken Isenberg, Anadarko, OK. Six Grand-Children, Adam Red & wife Melissa, Gruver, TX, Dustin Red, Ft. Cobb, 0K, Tera & husband, Eric Cochran, Dibble, OK, Colby & wife Summer Red, Mobeetie, TX, Blaine & wife Emma Red, Tishomingo, OK, MaKayla Red, Ft.Worth, TX.Great Grand-Children include Jade, Ansley, Haven & Zoey Red, Chezney Red, Raylan Cochran, Cutter and Sawyer Red, Step Great- Grand-Children, Kennedy & McKinley Pryor. A brother Phillip & wife Ida Red of Mt View, brother Roy Red of Elk City, one sister Bobbie Sue of Hinton. A special nephew, Johnny Red, Clinton, OK.
