Clare Mildred Orrell

Mildred Orrell, 96 of Fort Cobb, Oklahoma, was surrounded by her children when the Lord called her home on Tuesday, February 28, 2012, at her home south of Fort Cobb. She was born April 4, 1915 to Cortes Walter and Mary Jane (Harris) Deweese in Boone County, Arkansas. She attended grade school at Flat Rock (in Boone County) Arkansas. She moved with her family to Fort Cobb, Oklahoma in 1925 where she attended Oakdale grade school, south of Fort Cobb. She graduated from Fort Cobb High School in 1933. She met the love of her life, Dale Orrell and they were united in marriage on January 27, 1938 in Fort Cobb. She and Dale raised their family on the farm. She helped with all the many chores. She raised a big garden and enjoyed canning, cooking. She was very active in all her children's and grandchildren's activities. She had worked at Ratliff's Grocery in Fort Cobb and had cooked at Fort Cobb School. Her greatest love was for her family and the Lord. She especially enjoyed all the many family gatherings .She loved music and especially the old Gospel hymns. The last four days of her life, her family gathered around her bedside at home, Rodney played the guitar, Laquita played the piano, Wayne and Rita joined in and they all sang praises to God as Mildred enjoyed the wonderful music. Mildred was very independent but still had a great sense of humor. At age 93, Mildred was awarded a citation of congratulations of Women in agriculture for her work and involvement for her work in farming and ranching. She was an active member of the South Pioneer Extension Club for over sixty years. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Fort Cobb and a member of the Ruth Sunday School Class. Mildred will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by two sons, Rodney Orrell of Rogers, AR, Wayne Orrell and wife, Carol of Lawton, OK, two daughters, Laquita Johnson and husband, Leroy of Altus, OK, Rita Niece of Fort Cobb, OK, eight grandchildren, Deborah Woodman of McKinney,TX, Rita Beisel and husband, Woody of Altus, OK, DeLana Laxson and husband, Doug of Dallas, TX, Ronna Hornsby and husband, Rogers of McKinney, TX, Dana Grisham of Fort Cobb, OK, Brooke Orrell of Iowa City, Iowa, Steven Magnani and wife, Robin of Harlan,KY, Jodie Beckwith and husband, Bill of Boone, IA, twenty great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter, one brother, Ellis Deweese of Stillwell, OK, one sister, Bee Bellamy of Binger, OK, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Cortes Walter and Mary Jane Deweese, her husband, Dale Orrell, one son-in- law, Ronnie Niece, one granddaughter, Darla Johnson Craig, one brother, Gillis Deweese and two sisters, Charlotte Weinmeister and Fama Webb. A celebration of life is at 1:00 P. M., Saturday, March 3, 2012 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Matt Stewart officiating , Lynn Bellamy assisting. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Fort Cobb, OK under the direction of the Fort Cobb Funeral Home.
