Deon Miller

Deon Miller, 78, of Anadarko, passed away in the arms of our Lord Jesus Christ on Friday, July 5, 2024, with her family by her side. She was born March 12, 1946, in rural Apache to Robert Luther and Elvie Gertrude (Linsey) Jump. Deon attended Fort Cobb for most of her school years. Her senior year, she attended Lawton High School, where she graduated. After marrying her high school sweetheart, Carson Miller, no December 24, 1964, the couple spent part of their married life in Lawton and Little Rock, Arkansas, before permanently settling in Anadarko. In her earlier years, she worked in the farm fields and mowed lawns. During her married life, she was employed by the University Sound and also worked as a bookkeeper, waitress, and bartender. She was always a hard worker. Deon was a member of the First Assembly of God Church. She felt her greatest achievement in her life was her two beautiful daughters, six grandkids, and two great-grandchildren. “they are my heart,” she used to say. Deon loved gardening, animals, cooking, crafting, and helping others. She had a passion for the sick and elderly even at a young age and helped them run errands, grocery shop, and clean houses. She did this for many years until health problems forced her to retire. She is survived by her husband, Carson; Miss Kitty “The Heart of the Home;” her daughters, Shelly Fifer-Glaser and husband Richard Glaser of Anadarko and Valerie Reed of Dallas, Texas; six grandchildren, Johnethon Fifer and fiancée Shae Calhoun of Dallas; and Kelsie Fifer of Lawton, and Autumn Dunlap and husband Cody, Ambre Adams and husband Dustin, Zayne Maurer and wife, Jenny, and Michael Anthon, all of Dallas; Four great-grandchildren Amelia Maurer, Jeffery Maurer, Forest Dunlap, and Ambre’s baby; two brothers, Kenneth Jump and wife Aline of Rush Springs, and Eddie Jump and wife Debbie of Comanche; two sisters, Gwendola Fouts, and Janice Boone, both of Fort Cobb, and lots of cousins, nieces, and nephews. Deon was preceded in death by her grandparents, Leslie and Rhoda Jump; her mother, Gertrude Jump; her father, Robert Luther Jump and his wife Ethel; three sisters, Linda Brock of Lookeba, Gladys Brock of Apache and Stella Davis of Alfalfa, and two brothers, Jerry Don Jump and Luther Ray Jump, both of rural Boone. A celebration of life will be held at 11 A.M. on Saturday, July 13 at Grace Church in Anadarko. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Cancer Society.
