Janet Kay Crowell

Janet Kay Crowell came into this world on August 5, 1944. She was born in Mountain View, Oklahoma to Ruel and Belva (Tate) Teal. She was called home by the Lord on September 9, 2022 in Oklahoma City at the age of 78. Kay was surrounded by her family as she walked through the pearly gates.Kay attended school in Mountain View and Anadarko. She met the love of her life, Melvin Crowell and they married on September 22, 1961. They made their home in the Oney community where they farmed. She worked beside Melvin all their years farming and also raised their family there. Kay was involved in every aspect of her kids activities. She served as 4-H leader for many years. She enjoyed being around and helping kids with whatever they needed.Kay became Nana Kay on July 9, 1985 and grew from 1 to 4 grandkids whom she spoiled, cared for, chased after and mostly loved. She traveled to numerous stock shows and baseball games and didn't care how far away they were. That was her life! In 2008 she was a great grandmother and continued to grow to 10. She never slowed down and they were her biggest joy.Kay was a trooper. Keeping her faith in God, never giving up when life got hard and her family supporting her, she fought the fight for 8 years with dignity and grace.Kay joined the Fort Cobb-Broxton school system in 2000 as a teachers aid. Little did she know that she would become Nana Kay to everyone. She loved each child wholeheartedly and was a huge supporter. She was a wonderful cook, loved family gatherings and especially just to visit. She was a talker and was never short on words. She always found the good, hoped for the best and loved beyond measure. She had a hug, a smile and an infectious laugh waiting for everyone. Kay was a member of the First Baptist Church in Fort Cobb. She has left us with so many wonderful memories to cherish.Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Melvin Crowell of the home; son, Bruce Crowell & wife, Darla of Fort Cobb; daughter, Shelia Skaggs & husband, Emmit of Fort Cobb; 4 grandchildren: Kent & Cassi Crowell, Tasha & Garrett Bradley, Preston & Tabi Crowell and Tanessa & Jeremiah Perkins; 10 great grandchildren: Kaleb, Kendyll & Kutter Crowell, Chezney Red, Tatum, Makael & Daken Bradley, Carter Britain, Paislynn & Chaelynn Crowell; sister, Jean Boyd of Moore; sister-in-law, Irene Williams of Anadarko; brother-in-law, Ralph & Carolyn Myers of Anadarko, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and numerous "school kids" and friends.Kay is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Laverne Merrill; and sister-in-law, Arvella MyersVisitation will be Monday & Tuesday, 9:00 - 8:00. Family will gather and greet friends on Tuesday from 5:00 - 7:00Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at the 1st Baptist Church in Fort Cobb. Rev. Lynn Bellamy and Garrett Bradley will officiate. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Fort Cobb.
