Janie Jones

Janie Nofire Jones, 83, passed away on Wednesday, September 28th, 2016 in Lawton, OK. She was born on March 27, 1933 in Welling, OK to Otter and Elsie (Scott) Nofire. She attended Bacone College in Muskogee, OK. It was there that she met and married the love of her life, Billy S. Jones. They were married on May 1, 1955 at the Long Prairie Baptist Church in Little Kansas, OK. He preceded her in death on September 13, 2010. Her family remembers her as a disciplined and very caring God-loving lady. She hardly ever missed a church service, always helping in nursery or teaching a Sunday School class. She was an appointed home missionary along with her husband, Billy. They worked under the Home Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. They were employed there for 48 years before they retired. She loved her kids and grandchildren and spent many hours praying for them. She was a stern, but very fair parent and always seemed to know if one of the children had done something they shouldn't have. One of her many joys in life was getting to see her oldest son race his motorcycle. She enjoyed being a part of what he enjoyed. It was cold that day and she had to sit around the fire pit just like in the old days. She had learned to text and loved to stay in contact with her children and her lady friends. She took pride in setting a Christ like example for everyone. Janie made countless fry bread for Indian Taco's to help her granddaughter serve the Lord on Mission Trips, encouraging her granddaughter and new grandson in law to seek God first in everything they do as they prepare to serve the Lord in missions. Even though she was unable to attend all activities, she was proud of all her grandchildren, as they played softball, hockey, always encouraged them to continue their education and seek the Lord for their lives for their future. She was loved by her family and many friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by: 2 sons: Billy W. Jones, Midwest City, OK James R.
