Joyce Weaver

Joyce Ernestine Weaver was born April 14, 1928, in Oney, Oklahoma, to Ernest and Effie Lena Sublett. She passed away on October 19, 2013 at her home near Fort Cobb, Oklahoma. Joyce married Carl Weaver, in the spring of 1947 at Burkburnett, Texas. She and Carl have lived near Fort Cobb ever since. She was an excellent farm wife and homemaker but also worked at Sawyer?s Variety Store (the 5 and 10) and had a ceramic shop in Fort Cobb with her sister and aunt. She served on the Farm Bureau Women?s Committee for over 25 years. Joyce was greeted in Heaven by her parents and her sister, JoAnn Hamilton. Joyce blessed all of her children and grandchildren with her artistries. She was always busy doing something from ceramics, to crochet, to cross-stitch, to painting Santa Claus on everything she could get her hands on. Joyce painted on cow skulls, saw blades, feathers, leather, chisel points, clothing, etc. An expert artist, she painted hundreds of paintings that grace the walls of her children?s, and grandchildren?s homes ? and so many others. She was an amazing cook and canned everything. No one could top her homemade rolls and fried pies. She loved her daughters-in-law just like daughters. She was always buying them stuff at garage sales, Ross, and she always bought five of whatever she bought. Joyce had the ability to treat each grandchild as if each were the only one and when they spent the night she delighted in telling them scary ghost stories. She loved to play games, especially Polly Ann with the grandkids and with Carl. She loved going to Branson and if she could have her way, she would stop at every Wal-Mart in every town because ?Wal-Marts in different towns have different stuff.? Joyce is going to be missed greatly by her husband, Carl, of the home. She so loved and will be missed by their five sons and their wives: Mike and Donna Weaver of Fort Cobb, Steve and Linda Weaver of Oklahoma City, Carlie and Pam Weaver of Fort Cobb, Randy and Pat Weaver of Edmond, and Robert and Ronda Weaver of Fort Cobb. She will also be missed by 12 grandchildren: Darla and Mike Hendricks, Amy Clift and Eddie Doan, Tracy and Scott Sharp, Carla and Chad Jarboe, Christy and Stephen Harris, Jon and Chasity Weaver, Derek and Carachelle Weaver, Devin Weaver and Amy Coldren, Jessica Weaver, Dason Weaver, Jennifer Neeland, and Lisa and Glenn Weir. Joyce is also survived by eighteen great grandchildren: Jacob, Jacie, and Jillian Stinson; McKenna and Cache Clift; Nora, Scarlett, and Lucy Sharp; Sadie and Andrew Harris; Allison, Rachel, and A.J. Weir; Brylee Jarboe; Draydon, Daylon, and Demery Weaver; and Cason Weaver. Joyce leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Francis Davis and Betty Millwee were her best friends on this earth. Jimmy Hicks of Woodward was like a son to her. The family is eternally grateful to Kathy Walters, another trusted friend and caregiver. Services will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma. Interment will be held at the Oak Grove Cemetery, Fort Cobb, Oklahoma, under the direction of the Fort Cobb Funeral Home.
