Marcella Stockton

Marcella Stockton was born on May 12, 1926, in Gracemont, Oklahoma, to Arther and Linnie (Bost) Morgan. She passed from this life on June 15, 2024. Marcella was united in marriage to Austin E. Stockton on July 6, 1949, in the Fort Cobb First Baptist Church by Rev. Leroy Meyer. Austin passed away on August 17, 1994. Marcella graduated from Fort Cobb High School in 1944; earned her Bachelor of Science in Education from Oklahoma College for Women in 1948; Master of Education from Southwestern State College in 1969. She was Business Education teacher at Fort Cobb High School from 1948-1964. Marcella and Austin then moved to Durango, Colorado, where she taught Vocational Business Education for 20 years, from 1964-1984. After their retirement in 1984, Austin and Marcella returned to their original home in Fort Cobb, built by Austin in 1957. Marcella was a member of First Baptist Church of Fort Cobb since 1962. Marcella is survived by her brother, Cecil Morgan & Frances of Dallas, Texas; four nephews, Tray Morgan and Taye of Little Elm, Texas, Don Stockton and Donna of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Robbie Stockton and Debbie of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, and Kevin Ferguson of Las Cruces, New Mexico; three nieces, Judy and Sam Moses of Dallas, Texas, Trudi Jubenville and Greg of Plano, Texas, and Cindy Flood of Lindsay, Oklahoma; special cousins, Polly Grider and Jed Britton of Anadarko, Oklahoma; God daughters, Tracy Barnes and Lanny Barnes of Durango, Colorado; and many loving and helpful friends, relatives, and church family. Marcella and Austin always considered the students of Fort Cobb High School from 1948-1964 as their “kids” and loved them dearly. Marcella was preceded in death by her husband, Austin Stockton, her parents, Arther and Linnie Morgan, her brothers-in-law, Ben Stockton and Floyd Stockton, and her sisters-in-law, Jo Morgan, Betty Garcia, Hazle Stockton, and Imogene Stockton. Services to honor Marcella will be held at the Fort Cobb Baptist Church in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma, on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at 11:00 AM. She will be laid to her final rest following the service at Oak Grove Cemetery in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma. Memorial may be made to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation-Alzheimers, Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children, or any foundation of choice.
