Marjorie Tahbone

Marjorie Tahbone, 91, of Anadarko, Oklahoma, was called home by the Lord on Monday, March 19, 2012 in Anadarko. Marjorie was born May 12, 1920 in Mountain View, Oklahoma to Jesse and Ellen (Goombi) Satoe. She attended and graduated from Mountain View High School. She loved basketball and had many memories of the game she would share with family and friends. Marjorie was the granddaughter of Kiowa Captive, Millie Durgan. She married Raymond B. Tahbone on July 31, 1942 in Hobart, Oklahoma. She was a member of the Kiowa Tribe and the Rainy Mountain Indian Baptist Church for many years. Marjorie worked for over twenty five years at Riverside Indian School as a dorm mother. After retiring from Riverside, she began her work at Morrow Indian Children's Home in Muskogee. She was also a foster parent for many years including the Caddo County Indian Children Foster program. Marjorie was a wonderful, faithful, generous, caring lady and had so much love to give not only to her foster children but also to her own family. She loved to cook, be involved with the church ladies sewing and quilting, to be with her family and enjoyed going to Pow Wows and watching the Black Leggings perform. Survivors include her four children: Marcia Soap of Stillwell, Oklahoma, Raymond Keith Tahbone of Plano, Texas, John Gilbert of Anadarko, Oklahoma and Esther Rosado of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; 8 grandchildren: Elizabeth Setser of Edmond, Tonya Means of Stillwell, Raymond Keith Tahbone Jr. of Plano, Texas, Nikki Valdez of Carrollton, Texas, Rochelle Tahbone and Kory Tahbone of Tulsa, Leslie Lowman and Darren Rosado of Oklahoma City; 13 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Marjorie is preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Ellen; husband, Raymond B. Tahbone; great grandson, Dominic Rosado; special nephew, Reuben Kauley; 3 brothers: Roger, Joseph and Avery Satoe; 2 sisters: Lela Mae Toppash and Beulah Kauley; special foster daughter, Betty Ruth McGlashlin. Prayer service will be at 7:00 P.M., Thursday, March 22, 2012 at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Anadarko. Funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M., Friday, March 23, 2012 at the Rainy Mountain Indian Baptist Church, Mountain View, Oklahoma with Rev. Phil Goombi, officiating.
