Mary Lee Daugherty

Mary Lee Daugherty, 92, departed this life and entered into eternal rest on April 2, 2018 at the Chickasha Nursing Home where she had resided since December 2017. She was born in Ravia, Oklahoma on March 13, 1926. She married Kelsey Wray Daugherty on November 27, 1943 in Wapanucka, Oklahoma. They celebrated 60 years of marriage before his death in 2003. Mary Lee was a member of the First Baptist Church, Fort Cobb, Oklahoma. She never worked outside the home but she did plenty of work being a farmers wife; going for parts, riding the peanut combine, making wedding cakes for hundreds of people and making many of her children's clothes. Mary Lee valued education and was determined that all her 4 children would graduate from college, and the did! She and Kelsey enjoyed bowling and she won many trophies and went to several states for bowling tournaments.She is survived by 2 sons: Kenneth and wife, Gail of Council Grove, Kansas, Donald Paul and wife, Teresa of Broken Bow, Oklahoma; 3 brothers: Odis Chapman and wife, Margie of Orosi, California, Troy Chapman and wife, Barbara of Hillsboro, Texas, Sam Sharp of Neosho, Missouri; 2 sisters: Fay Martin and husband, E.A. of Canyon Lake, Texas, Sue Olham of Dinuba, California;8 grandchildren: Austin Daugherty and wife, Casey of Manhattan, Kansas, Damon Daugherty and wife, Lai-L of Park City, Kansas, Gordon Daugherty and wife, Erin of Omaha, Nebraska, Elizabeth Daugherty of Council Grove, Kansas, Daniel Daugherty and wife, Debbie of Alexandria, Virginia, Amy Frances and husband, Derek of Orlando, Florida, Dr. Dusty Devine of Denver, Colorado, Jerri Lynn Bradshaw and husband, Lance of Ardmore, Oklahoma; 8 great grandchildren: Jason Daugherty and Colton Daugherty of Manhattan, Kansas, Landon Daugherty of Omaha, Nebraska, Charlotte Francis and Louisa Francis of Orlando, Florida, Stetson Bradshaw, Justin Bradshaw and Carson Bradshaw of Ardmore, Oklahoma.Mrs. Daugherty is preceded in death by 1 son, James Allen, 1 daughter, Judith Ann Wofford, her parents, 3 brothers: Roy Chapman, Clarence Sharp and Marvin Sharp.Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M., Monday, April 9, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Fort Cobb. Rev. Steve Goodson will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma.
