Mary Lizzie Jameson

Mary Lizzie Gray was born May 24, 1922 to William T. and Mary (Huffman) Gray in Duncan, Oklahoma on the farm that her parents lived on. She passed from this life on January 28, 2023 to the waiting arms of Jesus and so many family members and friends that had gone on before. She was the youngest of nine siblings. She played basketball in school and graduated from Cox City, Oklahoma. She faithfully attended their reunions until around 2017. She married the love of her life Ralph L. Jameson on August 7, 1942 and they were married for 56 years when he passed away. She lived in New Mexico besides Oklahoma and had remained friends with people she met there also. Mary was known as Lizzie, Liz, Maribeth, Mama, Mom and the one she treasured the most was the title of MeeMee. She was MeeMee to both of her granddaughters, great-grandsons, and great-great grandchildren; as well as their friends and families. She even became MeeMee to some of the workers in the nursing home where she spent her last few years. She was employed by Friendship Manor as a secretary where several of the residents called her Mama and every Memorial Day, she would make sure they were remembered at the cemetery. She was a housewife after she left Friendship and traveled with Ralph to some of his jobs outside of Anadarko. She was the best chocolate chip cookie baker, the best toast and jelly maker and Eggos and bacon you could not resist from her and was well known for her peanut brittle that was pulled thin. Can't forget her macaroni and cheese that was homemade and never out of a box that we all asked for. She was always calling people and playing the birthday mouse on their special days. She loved animals of all kinds but especially cats and dogs. She had many cats at her house wild and pets and would feed them all not once but twice a day. She had several hummingbird feeders as well and would look forward to the time of year to hang them. She loved to hear the geese go overhead as well. And the moon when it was big and bright, she would call her daughter, grand and great-grand children and say go look at the moon - so when the moon is bright and full look at it and think of her. She made it to celebrate a milestone 100th birthday last May and she enjoyed her party. She was a simple lady with a huge heart. She loved her family and would talk about them to anyone that would listen. She supported them in any and all endeavors they chose to pursue.She is survived by her two granddaughters: Ginger Abbott, Anadarko and Vicki (Mike) Missey, Newcastle, Oklahoma. Her great grandsons: Joshua (Sarah) Abbott, Mustang, Oklahoma; Matthew (Emily) Abbott, St. Louis, Missouri; Jarod (Maddie) Missey, Edmond, Oklahoma; Jaxon Missey, Washington D.C. Her great-great grandchildren: Alexis, Alana and Jonathan Abbott, Saitee and Ariana French, and Connor and Olivia Abbott and nieces and nephews.She is predeceased by her husband, Ralph Jameson; Daughter Kathleen Hall; Son-In-Law Billy Hall; an infant daughter; Grandson-In-Law Roger Abbott; her parents and siblings. Visitation will be Monday, 11:00 - 4:00, Tuesday, 9:00 - 4:00, Wednesday, 9:00 - 1:00.Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Anadarko with Rev. Lynn Bellamy officiating. Burial will be in the Memory Lane Cemetery in Anadarko.
