Melissa Marie Kaulaity, 76, passed away on Friday, August 12th, 2016 in Lawton, OK. She was born on March 24, 1940 in Lawton, OK to Henrietta (Apayyat) and Weiser Tongkeamha. She grew up in the Carnegie area and attended school at Alden. She married Norman Harris Kaulaity on May 6, 1958 in Anadarko, OK. They relocated to San Jose, CA and lived there several years before moving back to this area where she lived most of her life. She was a descendent of Chief Satanta Whitebear. Her Kiowa Indian name was Tah-Po-Mah. Her hobbies included crossword puzzles, watching her soaps on T.V., especially The Young and The Restless. She was an avid OU and Thunder fan. She enjoyed going to pow-wows. She was a member of the Saddle Mountain Indian Baptist Church and had served as their secretary/treasure many years. She was a member of the Kiowa Tribe and was a member of the Kiowa Gourd Clan. She loved her family and was considered the matriarch of the family. She is survived by: 3 Daughters: Nora Arenas, Anadarko, OK Elaine Kaulaity, Tulsa, OK Joy Kaulaity, McCloud, OK 1 Brother: Raymond Tongkeamha, Anadarko, OK 2 Sisters: Prenella Tongkeamha, Anadarko, OK Lisa Tongkeamha LaBrada, Carnegie, OK Grandchildren: Yvonne Arenas, Zac Arenas, Gert McGee, Deeah Kaulaity, Roy Leathers, Norman Henry Kaulaity, Javier McGee, Valarie Juarez, Leah Kaulaity, Deebo Leathers, Darius McGee, Jamail (Bubba) McGee, Vlangska McGee and Skylar Peteet. 13 Pha-bees 13 Ahpees 1 Great-Great-Grandson 13 nieces and 13 nephews Her adopted brothers and sisters: Ernest Redbird, Jr., Rickey Redbird, Tim Redbird, Karen Redbird Kaulaity, Glenda Redbird Special Sister: Vivian Tsatoke Komardly Special Niece: Melissa (Missy Ann) Pewo Special Aunt: Susie Oyebi She was preceded in death by her parents, Weiser and Henrietta Tongkamha, her husband Norman Harris Kaulaity in December, 2010. Her son; William Henry Kaulaity, her daughter, Yvette Marie Kaulaity Leathers, her grandson, Jamond I, McGee. Her brothers and sisters: Wallace Tongkeamha, Clifton Tongkeamha, Raymon Tongkeamha, James Tongkeamha, Bruce Tongkeama, Lavena Tongkeamha Pewo and Becky Tongkeamha.
