Nora Faye Birdshead

Nora Faye Birdshead was born March 6, 1934 in Ardmore, Oklahoma to Samuel J. and Bernice (Gillard) Postoak. She went to her Heavenly home on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at the age of 84. She attended Carter Seminary and Plainview Schools in Ardmore, Oklahoma and Haskell Institute in Lawrence, Kansas where she graduated from the post graduate business school in 1955. Nora began work with the Bureau of Indian Affairs in March 1955 at the Ft. Apache Indian Agency in Whiteriver, Arizona. She married Clifford Birdshead on April 22, 1955. Her professional career continued at the San Carlos Agency, San Carlos, Arizona, Hopi Indian Agency, Keams Canyon, Arizona, Anadarko Area Office, Anadarko, Oklahoma, Colville Indian Agency, Nespelem, Wisconsin, Northern Idaho Indian Agency, Lapwai, Idaho and then retired from Riverside Indian School in Anadarko, Oklahoma in 1995 where she was a secretary and a stenographer. Nora was an avid golfer. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Clifford Birdshead of the home; son: Edward J. Birdshead and wife, Penny of Richmond, Texas; daughters: Debra Pletcher of Moore, Oklahoma, Mary Sue Smith and husband, Justin of Anadarko, Oklahoma; 9 grandchildren: Clint Pletcher, Garrett Pletcher and wife, Jessica, Chase Pletcher, Whitney Smith, Jonathan Smith, Rick Smith and wife, Kelly, Tina Davis and husband, John, Emily Birdshead and Michael Birdshead; 14 great grandchildren: Aeriana Smith, Lizeth Smith, Daxton Smith, Jay Smith, Brody Smith, Keighdy Firanski, Addison Firanski, Davie Davis, Cade Davis, Ty Davis, Paxton Davis, Juliette, Colton and Conner Pletcher; brother, Wayne Postoak of Lawrence, Kansas; sisters: Etta Johnson of Ardmore, Oklahoma, Barbara Postoak of Moore, Oklahoma, Lucille Keith of Ardmore, Oklahoma; adopted family member, Jack Gomez of Anadarko, Oklahoma; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.Nora is preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Calvin, Jack, John, Edmond, Walter and Keith Postoak; sisters: Martha Watson and Teresa Postoak.Visitation will be Friday, April 20, 2018 from 9:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M.Family visitation will be Friday 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, April 21, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Anadarko. Rev. Lynn Bellamy will officiate. Burial will follow in the Memory Lane Cemetery in Anadarko.
