Sonja Claudette Kinion

Sonja C. Kinion (Hughes) age 81 of Anadarko, Oklahoma passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, February 13, 2021 in her home.Sonja was born on July 23rd, 1939 in Fort Townsen Oklahoma to James and Alma Bell Hughes. Sonja was the third youngest of fifteen siblings, seven brothers and seven sisters. She is survived by her brother Meril Hughes (79) of Coleman, Texas and sister Odessa Magnus (93) of Choctaw, Oklahoma.Sonja was a proud high school graduate. Out of the 15 siblings she was the only high school graduate.Robert and Sonja married on August 26 1959 in Tucumcari, New Mexico. They are survived by Robin and spouse Paul Carr of Anadarko Ok, Rhonda and spouse Doug Huffman of Tulsa OK, Tina Kinion of Anadarko OK, Robert Lee Kinion Jr. of Muskogee OK, Rusty and spouse Dawn Kinion of Anadarko OK.She was a proud grandma to seventeen grandchildren Miranda and spouse Jimmy Prince of Anadarko OK, Cassandra and spouse Robert Black of Norfolk VA, Krystal and spouse Skylur Britz of Lawton OK, Travis and spouse Racheal Carr of Anadarko OK, Hilary Carr of Anadarko OK, Raven Carr of Anadarko OK, Kimberly Carr of Anadarko Ok, Dakota Carr of Anadarko Ok, April Carr of Sparks NV, Lisa Neal of New Castle OK, Randy Wells of Tulsa OK, Jeffery Kinion of Anadarko OK, Ashleigh Kinion of Anadarko OK, Robert Kinion III of Anadarko OK, Nicholas Kinion of Muskogee OK, Mason Kinion of Clovis NM and Kelsey Kinion of Wichita KS.Sonja was also a proud great grandma to thirty great grandbabies who lovingly called her GG as well as many nieces and nephews. She was a long standing resident of Anadarko, OK. Many residents knew her as the head cashier of Buylow Grocery, owner operator of Happy Jax Daycare and retired from Walmart as the people greeter. She was great with children and found her calling in working daily with the kids of Happy Jax Daycare. Many still refer to her as grandma to this day.She was loved by many and will be greatly missed. Till this day we have never found the infamous mouse tattoo.Funeral services will be held at The First Baptist Church at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, February 18, 2021 with burial to follow at Memory Lane Cemetery. Pastor Lynn Bellamy will officiate.Services are under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Anadarko, Oklahoma.
