Wanda D. Lumpkin

LaWanda Dola Lumpkin passed away on February 18, 2023 at the age of 95 after a short illness. Wanda was born on December 12, 1927 to Jack and Audrey Williams. She was blessed with three brothers and three sisters. Wanda grew up in Fort Cobb, OK and attended Fort Cobb Schools. On March 9, 1946 she married Billy Gene Wells. Wanda and Billy had two children; LaRetta Jean and Dale Leaman. Wanda's marriage to Billy took her to several towns in Oklahoma and to Phoenix, AZ. They returned to live in Okla. City in 1961. They lived there until their divorce in 1966. Wanda later married Merle Lumpkin and they moved to Anadarko, OK. Wanda and Merle had three children; Murry Allen, Trent Everett and Deanne. Not long after that Wanda and Merle built a home on the outskirts of Fort Cobb, OK. Wanda had a large extended family which she loved and enjoyed spending time with. The yearly family reunion was something she looked forward to. She could be found wearing a special apron while she fried fish for the Saturday night fish fry. She enjoyed playing poker with many of her family members. In her younger years she belonged to several bowling leagues and enjoyed traveling to tournaments around the state. Wanda loved her family and enjoyed having her grandchildren and even great grandchildren nearby. She kept a tidy house and was an excellent cook. Everyone requested her chicken and homemade noodles. Her husband Merle passed away on February 12, 2022. Wanda continued to live in the home they built until shortly before her death. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons, three brothers, two sisters and one great-grandson. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, LaRetta Stevens and husband Leon, her son Trent Lumpkin and his wife Carolyn, her daughter Deanne Miles. Her sister Olivia Williams, nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
