Obituary for Donald Everett Sloan

Donald Sloan was reunited with his heavenly family on Friday, April 12, 2019 after a lengthy illness. Don was born March 22, 1947 to William Evert and Lola Sloan in Sapulpa, Ok. Don grew up in Sapulpa and graduated from Sapulpa High School. After high school he was a route salesman for Pepsi in the Tulsa area.
Don served in the Army from 1971 to 1978 in field artillery. He served at Fort Sill, Germany and a short mission to Vietnam. When he left the military he returned to route sales with SW Sales, Lawton Oklahoma. He later worked for Coca-cola and Chickasha Dr Pepper and then drove his own truck delivering classic cars all over the country and even went into Canada.

He and Rhonda Dirickson Dacus were married August 30, 1986 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. They have been married 32 years and have enjoyed traveling, visiting grandkids, relatives and friends near and far. Over the past few years his health deteriorated but he loved watching wrestling and old movies especially John Wayne, and going to the casino. Before his illness he was an avid golfer and his goal was always to get back on the golf course.
Don was a big man with a big heart. He loved telling jokes and stories and playing jokes on the people he loved.

Don is survived by his wife of the home. Daughter Lynnetta Wesson and husband Mike of Bessemer, Alabama.
Step-son Kevin Dacus and wife Jennifer of Frackville, Pa. Brother Ronald Sloan and wife Eulaine of Sapulpa, Ok.
Brother-in-law Randall Dirickson of Anadarko. He is also survived by grandchildren Ashlynn Wesson, Sean Dacus and Savannah Dacus. Nephews Aaron and Brandon Sloan, William Bilby and Duane Hill all of Tulsa. One niece Veronica Sloan of Tulsa. He is also survived by 2 great-nieces. He also leaves behind his special friends Laverne and Deanna Stidham who have been an immense help over the past year.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, his mother and father in law Kenneth and Opal Dirickson, his sister Loveda Rose and grandson Robert Wesson and step-son Shawn Dacus.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jim Estep Officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Lane Cemetery. Under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.
