Obituary for James Leroy Lawrence

James Leroy (Moley) Lawrence Sr. was born January 10, 1939 in Talihina, Oklahoma to Joshua and Martha (Murphy) Lawrence. He was raised by Ella & William Murphy of Idabell, OK. James was called home by the Lord on Sunday, April 6, 2019 in Yukon, Oklahoma at the age of 80.

James attended school at Jones Academy in Hartshorne, OK from there he went to Haskell to further his education. James served our country proudly with the United States Army in Korea. He flew all over the world to inspect planes. He was an avid sports fan. He coached little league for several years and enjoyed being around the kids, mentoring and molding them into good players. His hobbies included fishing and camping. he was a member of the 1st Indian Baptist Church in Oakland, California. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Gail Lawrence of the home; sons: James Leroy Lawrence Jr. and his wife Shawndae of OKC, Chris Bozeman and wife Michelle of Yukon, OK and Jason Lawrence; 10 grandchildren; 5 great grandchidlren; brother, Percy Lawrence; sister, Jolene Kauyedauty and a host of other relatives and friends.

James is preceded in death by his parents; his adopted parents, William & Ella Murphy; his first wife, Peggy Poolaw Lawrence and his grandson, Michael Theodore Bozeman.

Visitation will be Wednesday 12:00 - 8:00 P.M., Thursday, 9:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. and Friday from 9:00 A.M. till 1:00 P.M.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 P.M., Friday, April 12, 2019 at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Anadarko. Burial will follow in the Memory Lane Cemetery in Anadarko. Services are under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Anadarko, Oklahoma.
