Obituary for John Walter Johnson

On Sunday, September 15, 2019, John Walter Johnson, loving son, brother, friend, father, and grandfather passed away at the age of 70. John was born on October 28, 1948 in Lawton, OK to Isaac John and Marilynn Jean (Hutchins) Johnson. John was the middle son, he has an older brother Mike and a younger brother Mark (Johnson). John graduated high school from Lawton High in 1966, this is where he met his best friend, and who would later become known as a lifelong third brother, Jack Murdock. John was a veteran of the United States Navy, he was a hospital corpsman, where he proudly served along side the Marines in the Vietnam war. John also attended college at Cameron University in Lawton.
He became a nurse, and a nursing home administrator. Throughout his career, he worked in many places across the state of Oklahoma.
John was proud of his work, and of his family. Although he was married and divorced multiple times, he was very nurturing, and was always a dedicated and unconditionally loving father to his children, Heather, Shannon, and Ryan. When he was asked recently about his greatest accomplishment in life, he said it was his family. He truly enjoyed being a dad and grandpa and just spending time with the people he loved. John also had a love for animals, he always had pets, some of his favorites over the years were his horse, "Tylo", dogs "Two, Goliath, & Zhar", cats "BC, & Rosco", and even a donkey he named Jack, after his best friend.
When he was young, John's favorite hobby was showing his horse Tylo in horse shows. As an adult, John liked to ride motorcycles, he was a fan of the Oklahoma State Cowboys, he collected elephants, he enjoyed playing golf, and going to the casino. To his family, no words seem worthy enough to describe him. His love was truly unconditional. He was there to be our harshest critic, to tell us the hard truth, while also being our biggest fan and loudest cheerleader. He was known for always being there when anyone needed him, no matter what time of day or night; even for the tough stuff, he was always there to provide the strongest. most comforting hug when we needed it the very most.

John was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, his father Isaac John, and his grandson Travis.

He is survived by his mother, brothers, and children as mentioned above; as well as his grandchildren Haley, Tyler, Dakota, Hannah, and Nora; his great grandchildren Austin, Liam, Izak, Brett, Sofi, and Addilyn; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at the Westmoore Community Church 12609 S. Western Ave., OKC, OK 73170
