Obituary for Retta Jo Collins

Retta Jo (Farrington) Collins, 82, of Anadarko, Oklahoma, was called home by the Lord on Monday, March 11, 2019 at her home in Anadarko. Retta was born August 30, 1936 in Anadarko to Otis W. and Henrietta J. (Damm) Farrington. She attended school and graduated from Anadarko High School with the class of 1954 as Valedictorian. She then attended college at OCU and received her Masters Degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. For 24 years, Retta Jo taught many courses in grades 1-12, positively affecting the lives of many children in Anadarko, Broxton and Oklahoma City as well as Eugene, Oregon, Tyler and Athens, Texas. After her retirement, she continued as a substitute teacher in the Anadarko School system well into her 70's. Retta Jo was also a long-time member of the Oklahoma Retired Educators Association who attended meetings regularly and served as the organization's Archiver.

Retta Jo is survived by her husband, Tom Collins; her sons: Forrest Brock and wife, Lori, Mark Brock-Farrington and wife, Stephanie; daughters: Jo Atwood and husband, Patric, Julie Gardner and husband, Kelly; 20 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren along with other relatives and friends.

Retta Jo is preceded in death by her parents, Otis and Henrietta (Retta) Farrington; brothers: Otis and Olin Farrington; sister, Louise Smith; husbands, Dale L. Brock and John Trescott and one grandchild, Kelli Anne Gardner.

Services were at 1:P.M., Friday, March 14, 2019
