Obituary for Virginia Darlene Koontz

Virginia D. Koontz was born October 5, 1926 to Mary and Augusta (Gus) Bosin in Apache, Oklahoma. She passed on to glory on September 18, 2019 in Chickasha, Oklahoma.

Virginia grew up in Stecker, Oklahoma to a hard working farm family. She was the youngest of five children. She attended Stecker and Apache Schools. In 1958 she married Jack Koontz Sr. She and Jack traveled and lived all over the United States following his work as a welder for a pipeline crew. They made their home in Stecker where they raised cattle and farmed the family land.

Virginia was a Christian and believed in the Lord with all her heart. She was a lifelong wife, mother and homemaker. She loved to cook and feed her family especially around the holidays. She loved crafts of all kinds and was a very talented seamstress. She was a music lover especially the blues and classic rock. Virginia loved her family and was so proud of her two grandchildren.

Virginia is preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Gus Bosin; one brother, Augusta Luke Bosin; three sisters: Eleanor Bosin, Caroline Bosin Pratt and Imogene Bosin Palmer; Her beloved husband, Jack Koontz Sr.; two children: Marcus and Mary Ellen Koontz and one nephew, Norman Pratt.

Virginia is survived by her son, Jack Koontz Jr, daughter-in-law, Christy Cope Koontz and two grandchildren, Jack Koontz III and Amanda Grace Koontz of Stecker; one nephew, Vincent Palmer of Anadarko and his children: Marcus Palmer, Georganna Palmer and Caroline Bedford also of Anadarko, Darlene Palmer of Oklahoma City, Georgene Palmer and husband, Tim of Cincinnati, Ohio, Mariann Corley and husband, Kerry of Elgin and Stacey Palmer of Piedmont.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 in the Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Andrew Ware officiating. Burial will follow in the Memory Lane Cemetery in Anadarko. Funeral services are under the direction of the Smith Funeral Home, Anadarko, Oklahoma.

Visitation will begin on Sunday from 1:00 to 6:00. Monday, 9:00 to 8:00.
