Doris Jean Emhoolah Jake

Doris Jean Emhoolah Jake, 74, passed away on Monday, October 27th, 2014 in Lawton, OK after an extended illness. She was born on June 22, 1940 in Lawton, OK to John and Matilda (Aquodle) Emhoolah, Sr. She attended and graduated from Broxton Schools. She attended OSU and Cameron University where she received her bachelor degree. She taught English at Broxton for a short time before going to work for Anadarko Schools. She worked as Higher Education Director for the Kiowa Tribe and taught English at Fort Sill and was the ICW Director for the Delaware Tribe. She was a member of the Kiowa Tribe of Oklahoma, Ware's Chapel, the Native American Church and the Kiowa War Mothers. For the past 25 years, Doris was the Lay Leader Delegate and was voting member for Ware's Chapel to the Oklahoma Indian Methodist Conference. She was also a lifetime member of the Ware's Chapel United Methodist Women. She held UMW offices on local and SW District levels. She is survived by: One son, Randall K. Jake and his wife, Julie, of Durant, OK Four grandchildren; April Owen, Randawn Alvoid, Luke Reynolds and Brandon Jake Three Great-grandchildren: Chaves Owen, Isiah Owen, Jericho Juarez Six brothers; John Emhoolah Jr., Denver, CO Parker Emhoolah, Lawton, OK Farrell Emhoolah, Albuquerque, NM Lonnie Emhoolah, Lawton, OK James M. Emhoolah, OKC, OK Vernal Richard Emhoolah, Longview, TX Numerous nieces, nephews and friends She was preceded in death by her parents; Matilda and John Emhoolah, Sr., three brothers; Patrick Emhoolah, Gerald Emhoolah, Hubert Emhoolah and two sisters; Lynnette Emhoolah and Annette Emhoolah Garza.
