Edna Francis Hodges

Edna Francis Tramel Hodges, 93 was called to her Heavenly Home on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 by her Lord and Savior with her family by her side. She was born on July 16, 1918, was the eldest of ten children, to James Carroll and Edna Rae (Jackson) Tramel on the old home place south east of Fort Cobb, OK. She was a graduate of Washita High School in the class of 1936. She married her high school sweetheart, Marvin Curtis Hodges on her twentieth birthday, July 16, 1938 at the First Baptist Church parsonage in Fort Cobb. From this union three wonderful children were born and they raised her baby sister as one of their own. In 1939, Edna was saved, baptized and joined the First Baptist Church in Fort Cobb. She taught Sunday school, was the church clerk and held several other positions in the church. She supported her church through attendance, prayer and the giving of tithes and offerings throughout her seventy three years of membership. Her greatest loves were the Lord and her family. She enjoyed reading God's word, sewing, needlework, ceramics, painting and crocheting. Her passion in later years were crocheting and sewing baby receiving blankets for the Pregnancy Support Center and DHS in Anadarko. She especially loved her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and all the precious moments spent with each of them. She was a loving and devoted mother, "Nana", sister and friend. She was an active member of the Crescent Home Extension Club and the Order of Eastern Star for fifty plus years. Edna leaves a wonderful legacy for her family and many friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by one son, Kenneth Hodges and wife, Karen of Gilbert, AZ, two daughters, Marilyn Graham of Fort Cobb, OK, Loretta Jones and husband, Gary of Edmond, OK, Twelve grandchildren, Sonja Teeter and husband Keith, Kendra West and fiance, David Farmer all of Fort Cobb, OK, Michelle Owen and husband, Larry of Huntsville, TX, Donna Ratley and husband, Bill of Apache, OK, Cherie Hodges of McAllen, TX, Robby Hodges and wife, Sara of Gilbert, AZ, Kevin Hodges and wife, Angela of Kyle, TX, Ryan Hodges and wife, Katie and Jason Hodges all of Gilbert, AZ, Cary Jones of Edmond, OK, Gary Dean Jones and wife, Shelly of Cave Creek, AZ, Lynn Jones and wife, Shelly of Yukon, OK, eight great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren, three brothers, Darrell Tramel of Prescott, AZ, Glen Tramel and wife, Christine of Hemet, CA and Charles Tramel and wife, Joyce of Hudson, OH, one sister, Oleta Kitchens and husband, Gene of OK City, OK, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, James Carroll and Edna Rae (Jackson) Tramel, her husband of forty-six years, Marvin Curtis Hodges, one son, Marvin Wayne Hodges, one great grandson, Richie West, one great granddaughter, Kaiya Paige Hodges, two brothers, James Carroll Tramel Jr. and Virgil Tramel and two sisters, Gwen Meyers and Lillian Taylor. Edna's Celebration of Life will be at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, May 5, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Fort Cobb, OK, with Rev. Matt Stewart and Rev. Leon Shade officiating. Her final resting place will be Oak Grove Cemetery, Fort Cobb, OK under the direction of the Fort Cobb Funeral Home In lieu of flowers gifts of love may be donated to the Pregnancy Support Center of Caddo Co. @ 404 S W 5th St, Anadarko, OK, 405 247-4841.
