Haden Paul Gregory

Haden Paul Gregory, 90, of Anadarko, Oklahoma was called home by the Lord on Monday, January 20, 2014, at his home while surrounded by his family. Born in Comanche County Texas to Wesley Cleburn Gregory and Nellie Carol Barbee on February 27, 1923. He attended a one room school house in Comanche County and was known as an accomplished fiddle player during his youth. Later Paul served in the U.S. Army as a Staff Sergeant, stationed in Alaska, from 1943-1946. Paul married Louise Thompson in 1958 and together they raised eight children. Paul worked in construction and moved with his family to Anadarko in 1965. He built the first ten homes in Regency Addition, the Regency Apartments, and Sinclair Service Station. He owned and operated Gregory Millwork up until 1985 when his sons took over the business. After retiring from the cabinet shop, Paul and Louise operated Beaver Express Freight Company. Paul enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing dominoes, and spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed attending annual family reunions at Lake Texoma and often said his greatest asset in life was his children. He will be greatly missed by all of those whose lives he has touched. Paul is preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Claudie Gregory, Auddie Gregory, Donnie Harris and Nita McKeehan and brothers: Jessie, Wesley, Ben, Gaston, Jay and JB. Paul is survived by his wife, Louise Gregory of the home; children: Garry and Jan Gregory of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Joan and Roy Simmons of Vian, Oklahoma, Barbara Glidewell of Anadarko, Oklahoma, Larry and Jan Gregory of Anadarko, Oklahoma, Ricky and Michelle Gregory of Cordell, Oklahoma, Darrell and Terry Gregory of Cordell, Oklahoma, Terry and Kambre Gregory of Anadarko, Oklahoma, Ron and Penny Gregory of Houston, Texas; 32 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren; sister, Georgia Evans of Camden, Tennessee; sister-in-law, Lavelle Gregory of Merkel, Texas and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, January 24, 2014 at Bethel Baptist Church in Anadarko. Rev. Donnie Miller will officiate. Burial will follow in the Memory Lane Cemetery in Anadarko under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Anadarko, Oklahoma. The pallbearers are his 6 sons and 2 daughters. Honorary Pallbearers are: Roy Simmons, R.C. Christian, Jim Lillie, Kenneth Thompson, Doug Clayton, Lindel Larison and Travis Powers. The family of Paul Gregory would like to extend their thanks to the doctors and staff of Oklahoma Heart Hospital, Faith Hospice, Anadarko Physical Therapy, Dr. Wood, Dr. Belt, Dr. Valuck, as well as a multitude of friends and customers within the community.
