Joyce Lavern Clift

Joyce Clift, 81 of Fort Cobb, Oklahoma was called home by the Lord on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was born June 7, 1932 to Eula (Rorie) Davis in Big Flat, Arkansas. She attended Broxton and Fort Cobb Schools. She graduated from Fort Cobb High School with the class of 1948. She attended Southwestern State College in Weatherford, Oklahoma. She worked for a Doctor in Weatherford, Oklahoma, as a housekeeper and cook. She then moved to Lawton where she became a switch board operator for AT & T. She was promoted to Supervisor near the end of her thirty plus years with AT & T. Her greatest love was for her family, she especially enjoyed spoiling the grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed all the family getting together. She had a passion for quilt making. Many of her quilts had a lot of history in them. She enjoyed going to all the sport events in Fort Cobb. Her favorite team was the Braves and her favorite player was Chipper Jones. She enjoyed going to the Beauty shop each week. She looked forward to visiting with her many friends. She had made a profession of her faith in Christ and had attended numerous Church's in Fort Cobb. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Vernon Clift, a grandson, David Scott Bufkin and great grandson, Tanner Cobb. She is survived by two sons, Ralph Bufkin and wife, Joy of Mt View, OK, and Jimmy Hood and wife, Brenda of Yukon, Oklahoma, one daughter, Joyce Ann "Sue" Atwater and husband, Tom of Bentonville, Arkansas, two brothers, Harold Davis and wife, Frances of Fort Cobb, Oklahoma and Kenneth Davis and wife, Linda of Anadarko, Oklahoma, one sister, Troyce Samuels of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, grandchildren, Jaree Williams and husband, Kevin, Brian Bufkin, Michelle Amerson and Jamie Amerson, 8 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends, two very special friends, Carol Howze and Terri Clark. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 2:00 P. M., Monday, January 27, 2014 at Fort Cobb Baptist Church, Rev, Matt Stewart officiating, Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Fort Cobb, Oklahoma under the direction of Fort Cobb Funeral Home. * Condolences may be sent to the family at www.smithfuneralservices.com
