Lester Hooks

Lester Hooks 78, of Norman, Oklahoma, passed away on Saturday, October 4, 2025 surrounded by his family. Born on March 20, 1947 in Anadarko, OK to Clara (Haywood) Jones and Lonnie Hooks. Lester was a beloved husband, son, grandfather, grandson, brother, brother-in-law, nephew, cousin, uncle, and friend. He touched the lives of many with his profound sense of humor, warmth, creativity, curiosity, and outgoing nature. Lester was a generous friend and possessed an uncanny ability to connect to just about anyone. He possessed a wide smile, disarming wit, and an empathetic heart. He had a rare gift of building community wherever he found himself. Lester loved and appreciated his family. His departure comes as a great shock and a deep wound, and it is gravely felt by his entire family and countless others who loved him deeply. His gentle smile brought so much joy to his family and friends. He accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Greater First Baptist Church where he served as an usher at one time. Lester graduated from Anadarko High School in 1965. He attended Langston University and then was drafted in the United States Army. He started his first job at Curt’s Service Station in Anadarko. He also worked for AAFES in Denver, CO, Coors in Golden, CO, and Albertsons in Aurora, CO. He also worked for Tiger Trip/Watkins Shepherd in La Mirada, CA, CSI Reeves in Arlington, TX. He worked over 52 years driving trucks. He retired from Andersen Windows and Doors. Lester was an avid OU and Denver Bronco fan. He shared the last forty years of his life with his wife Charlotte (Bonnie) Head. Lester was proceeded in death by his parents; two sisters, Carol Ann Flenoid and Patricia Rice, one brother, Kent Hooks, maternal grandparents, Francis and Jake Haywood; paternal grandparents, Russell and Josie (Collins) Hooks and one niece, Leslie Rice. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Charlotte (Bonnie) of the home; a blended family of seven children, 15 grandchildren and six great grandsons; one brother Lonnie and his wife Linda, six brothers-in-laws, Anthony (Bubba) Head, Don Head, Hershel Head, Leroy Head and his wife Michelle, Darwin Head and his wife Jenny, Ulysses Rice, and many other relatives, good neighbors and loving friends.
