Ms. Edna J. Bailey

Edna Jo Banks Bailey, 105, of Fort Cobb, Oklahoma, returned to the presence of her Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at her home in Fort Cobb. She was born, February 16, 1906 to Joseph Marion and Arnettie (Lindsay) Banks in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma. She graduated from Washita High School. She attended OCU in Chickasha, Oklahoma and received her Teachers Certificate. She taught grades one through eight in a one room school house. She was united in marriage to Hubert Edgar Bailey on May 2, 1928 in Arapaho, Oklahoma. From this union was born seven children. Hubert preceded her in death on June 26, 1980, after fifty two years of marriage. Her greatest love was for her husband, Hubert, and her children. She joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints when she was seventy five years old. She served a Proselytizing Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, also served as relief Society President, also taught The Gospel Doctrine class and had many other callings in the Church. She was very active in helping her Savior Jesus Christ in bringing to pass the immortality and eternal life of man. She was a member of the Fort Cobb Garden Club and the Eastern Star. She enjoyed working in her yard and always welcomed visitors. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. Edna will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by, Joe Bailey and wife, Jeanette of Anadarko, OK Lindel Bailey and wife, Karen of Blanchard, OK Deloyd Bailey and wife, Gaye of Gilmer, TX, twenty nine grandchildren and twenty one great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Marion Banks and Arnettie Banks, her husband, Hubert Bailey, two sons, Dean Bailey and Dale Bailey, two daughters, Janell Bailey Shaw and Kae Bailey Gray and eleven brothers and sisters. Services will be held at 11:00 A. M., Friday, February 3, 2012 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, at 920 E. Central in Anadarko, Oklahoma. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Fort Cobb under the direction of the Fort Cobb Funeral Home in Fort Cobb, OK
