Obituary for Stan Mackey

Stan Eugene Mackey of Fort Cobb, Oklahoma was born July 6, 1950 in Kingfisher, Oklahoma to Carl Edward and Elinor Jeanne "Jeanne" (Karenbrock) Mackey. He passed from this life on April 28, 2019 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The family lived in Hitchcock, Dover, Jefferson, Hugo, and Fort Cobb while growing up. He graduated from Fort Cobb High School with the class of 1968.

Stan attended college at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma. He married his high school sweetheart, Almeda Marsh on December 22, 1969 in Fort Cobb. Stan graduated in 1973 with a degree in pharmacy. Stan worked as a pharmacist in Pampa, Texas and Anadarko. He also owned a pharmacy in Fort Cobb and Anadarko and later worked in pharmacies in Chickasha, Hinton and Lawton.

Stan was a people person. He took great care of each customer, not rushing them and answering any questions they had. He was a reliable, calming, caring and polite man. He was very compassionate in his profession.

Outside of work, Stan loved being with his family and spending as much time with them as he could. When the grandchildren came along, Stan experienced a new love. He enjoyed playing games with them like Wahoo, jumping on the trampoline, flying kites, and taking them shopping. His hobbies included fishing, quilting, riding his bike, playing the piano, and trying to fix whatever was broken. Stan enjoyed his annual fishing trip with his brothers and friends. He attended and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Fort Cobb.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Almeda Mackey of the home; daughter, Andrena Almeda Higgins and husband, Joel of Edmond, Oklahoma; grandchildren: Alexia and Kyler Higgins of Edmond, Oklahoma; his mother, Jeanne Mackey of Kingfisher, Oklahoma; three brothers: Steve Mackey and wife, Sheila of Duncan, Oklahoma, Bruce Mackey and wife, Sharri of Edmond, Oklahoma, Kirk Mackey and wife, Angeli of Norman, Oklahoma and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Stan is preceded in death by his father, Carl Mackey; brother, Burl Mackey and sister-in-law, Betty Leighton Mackey.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, May 4, 2019 at the First Baptist Church in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma. Bro. James Raffety will officiate.
Viewing will be held at the funeral home only on Thursday and Friday from
9:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. and Saturday, 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M.
Services are under the direction of the Fort Cobb Funeral Home in Fort Cobb.
