Otis Hawkins

Otis Ley Hawkins, 88 of Anadarko, Oklahoma was called home by the Lord on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was born October 27, 1923 to Cecil and Florence (Ley) Hawkins in Devol, Oklahoma. He attended school at Union Valley, Oklahoma. After graduating high school, he went to New York where he joined the Merchant Marines. He served eleven years and in the middle of that term he was drafted into the United States Army for one year during WWII. He met the love of his life, Billie Reynolds and they were united in marriage on March 15, 1953 in Lawton, Oklahoma. He worked at Western Farmers in Anadarko and retired as plant superintendent after thirty four years of devoted service. He enjoyed his job and all the wonderful people he worked with. His greatest love was for his family, especially the grandkids and great grandkids. He played the roll of Santa for fifteen years, entertaining family and friends. He was a master peanut brittle maker. He was the family dentist, he pulled all his kids and their friends teeth. He was a lifetime member of the Anadarko Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty nine years, Billie Hawkins of the home, one son, Doug Hawkins and wife, Teresa of Tulsa, OK and their children, Lindsey and Nick Covey and their son, Dallas and Taylor Hawkins of Tulsa, two daughter's, Diane Powell and husband, David of Anadarko, OK, their children, Alicia and Marvin Wang and daughter, Alexa of Boston, MA and Jeff Powell of Anadarko, OK and Debbie and husband, Terry Lovell of Anadarko and their children, Austen and Macci Lovell and their children, Weston and Brynlee of Edmond, and Jacob Lovell of Chickasha. sister, Lena Jo Alexander of Calvesta, California, sister-in-law, Sue Way of Sweetwater, Texas, many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother and three sisters. Services will be at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, July 21, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church in Anadarko, Rev. David Gardner and Rev, Chuck Gilbert will officiate. Private Family Burial will follow under the direction of Smith Funeral Home in Anadarko, Oklahoma. In Lieu of Flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the First United Methodist Church, Anadarko, Oklahoma.
