Thelma Alfreda Tartsah

On the afternoon of April 27, 2025, Thelma Alfreda (Coltz)Tartsah passed away peacefully at Shanoan Springs Nursing Home in Chickasha Okla., with her family by her side. Thelma was 76 years old. A celebration of life service will take place at the First Baptist Church on May 3rd, at 11:00 AM in Anadarko, Okla. Thelma was born to Coleen (Neconie-Shortneck-Highwalker) Smith and Joe Otis Sands in 1948. She moved to Anadarko in 1986. Where she met the love of her life (CB) Leslie Tartsah, they were married for 33 years before his passing in 2020. Thelma Lou cherished her family and friendships, and loved attending family gatherings where she always made you laugh. She had a kind heart and never met a stranger. She enjoyed the company of her ladies group from church and was always looking forward to their group outings. She also loved to sing, you could always hear her singing along at church. Especially if anyone was singing the Kiowa hymns. She loved caring for her family and her cat, Leukis. Thelma was a homemaker. Up until the end Thelma maintained her kindness, grace, compassion, appreciation of beauty, love of family and friends, and express gratitude for her long life, full of wonderful and varied experiences. Thelma is survived by one daughter, Ella Ramadan, one son, Lonnie Coltz, and one step-son Michael Tartsah of Anadarko. Three grandchildren, Levi Coltz, Ryan Stillwell, Dalton Stillwell, and step-grandson Darrell Paul Branch and her siblings, Francine Peach of Tulsa, Pam (Jeff) Young of Norman, Edwin Smith of Lawton, Audrey (Pat Connelly of Elk City, Nadine Spencer of Tulsa, Dean Smith of Wayne. Aaron (Essa) Smith Jr., of Norman, Marth (BJ) Brown of Aberdeen, MS., Donna (Mark) Stilley of Chickasha, and numerous nieces and nephews. Thelma was preceded in death by her husband (CB) Leslie Tartsah, her mom Coleen Smith, her dad Joe Sands, Daughter, Vanessa Dyer, and siblings, Carol Coltz, Larry Coltz, Loretta Smith, Phoebe Redbird, Sandra Hall, and Maggie Rocha. Pallbearers: Levi Coltz, Timothy Smith, Tanner Gomez, Colton Serbanic, Ronnie Tartsah Jr., Rudy Tartsah III, and Johnathan Thomas. Visitation will be Friday, May 2nd, 2025 at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel 9-7 pm. Wake service will be from 7-9 pm at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Wares Cemetery following the services.
