Thomasine "Pumpkin" Neconie

Thomasine “Pumpkin” Neconie, was born on February 9, 1951 to Chester and Edwina (Longhat) Silverhorn in Lawton, Oklahoma. She passed away June 12, 2025, at the age of 74 in Anadarko, Oklahoma. Thomasine “Pumpkin” Neconie, was a proud member of the Kiowa Tribe and longtime resident of Anadarko, Oklahoma. She was originally from Stecker, Oklahoma, where she grew up before making her home in Anadarko for the majority of her life. She married James “Ace” Neconie in Anadarko, Oklahoma Thomasine was a beloved Mother and Grandmother. Thomasine was the cherished granddaughter of Haungooah and Hattie “Taugoon” Silverhorn. He was a noted Kiowa artist. She was known for her deep love of her heritage and culture. Her passion for creativity was matched by her enjoyment of life’s simple pleasures—she loved going to the casino, playing bingo, solving word puzzles, going out to eat and reading a good book. Above all, Thomasine was devoted to her family. She deeply loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and her joy in their company was evident to all who knew her. She took pride in her work at Riverside Indian School, where she served faithfully for over 25 years before retiring. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James, along with her: sisters Darwina Silverhorn Palmer, Susie “Tootie” Silverhorn, Chestina “Baby Doll” Silverhorn, and Colleen Silverhorn Keahbone; and brothers Edwin “Bullhorn” Silverhorn and Barney Silverhorn. She is survived by her loving children: daughters Rose Marie Silverhorn of Anadarko, Oklahoma and Donna Marie Neconie of Anadarko, Oklahoma; sons Orville Lynn Neconie and Jenna Johnson of Anadarko, Oklahoma, and Mack Allen Silverhorn, of Anadarko, Oklahoma. She is also survived by her brothers Carney Silverhorn and Francis Palmer of Anadarko, Oklahoma and Larnie Silverhorn and Linda Chasenah of Lawton, Oklahoma. Her grandchildren brought immense joy to her life. Among them are two special grandchildren, Tina Neconie and Derek Silverhorn, as well as Heaven, Autumn, Tahashe, Harmony, Xavier, Sosanah, Alfred, Oshalyn, Isaac, Sadayah and Thomasine. Her great-grandchildren include Derek Jr., Sr., and a soon-to-be great-granddaughter, Everleigh. Thomasine will be remembered for her warmth, resilience, humor, and the love she poured into her family and her work.
