When Darla's not at work, she enjoys camping, boating, gardening, chasing her 6 grandkids: Kaleb, Kendyll, Carter, Kutter, Paislynn and Chailyn at ballgames or whatever they may be doing, taking road trips with her husband Bruce, and spending time with family.

Mary Butler Manager/Owner/Funeral Director and Preneed Counselor

I was born in Carnegie, OK and have lived in Caddo County all of my life. I married Leo Butler in 1972. We have two children, Tammie and Jeffery; and grandchildren, Ashlee, Jarrett, Lane, and Dre. I began working in the funeral industry in 1989. I became a licensed funeral director and embalmer in 2009. In 2006, Darla Crowell and I purchased Smith Funeral Home in Anadarko and Fort Cobb Funeral Home in Fort Cobb. I am a member of the Caddo Nation of Okalahoma. I love spending time with my family and friends, and enjoy doing outdoor activities. For the past 30 years, I have had the honor to assist families through some of the darkest days of their lives; and hopefully I have been able to help them in some small way. For me, funeral service is a calling; not just a profession.

Mark Johnson Funeral Director/Embalmer

Hi, my name is Mark Johnson. I was born-and-raised in Lawton, Oklahoma. I attended Lawton Senior High School, and graduated in 1968. I then attended Cameron State College. While attending college I was drafted into the U.S. Air Force where I became a photographer. Upon leaving the Air Force, I then attended Tulsa Junior College. While in Tulsa, I had a job at a local funeral home helping with funerals. As I began to learn more about the funeral service, I decided to become a licensed funeral director and embalmer. So, I chose to attend Dallas Institute of Funeral Service. Upon graduating in 1984 and passing the Oklahoma Funeral Service examination, I became a funeral director/embalmer. I have worked in many funeral homes across Oklahoma - which included Tulsa, Muskogee, Ardmore, Ponca City, Lawton, Anadarko, and Chickasha. I have also worked in Alabama in Tuscaloose, Moundville, and Florence.

The reason funeral service is interesting to me is that in making arrangements with the families - I get to find out the life stories of not only the decease but of the families which makes me feel almost a part of them.

In my time away from the funeral services, my wife and I enjoy sailing (I have three sailboats) at Lake Lawtonka. I don't worry about falling overboard because I also scuba dive. We have been to wonderful locations such as Hawaii, Cozumel, Dominican Repulic, Nassau Bahamas, Puerto Rico, St. Croix, St. Martin, St. Kits, St. Thomas, Montserrat, Guadeloupe, Dominica, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and Barbados.

We moved to Fort Cobb in 2005. I went to work at Caddo Kiowa Technology Center in Fort Cobb in 2007, and retired after 10 years in 2017.

Two of the funniest and sweetest ladies asked if I would like to come to work for them at Smith Funeral Home in 2012. I said sure. It has been a great experience - both sad at times and wonderful. To watch these ladies comfort and care for the many families that came for help when they have lost a loved one. The respect they show each family in need is so beautiful.

Mary Butler and Darla Crowell have been wonderful to work for and know!
